Davide Tonizzo

Davide Tonizzo was born in Toronto in 1962 with a strong passion for automobiles. After attaining a degree in mechanical engineering he left for Italy to pursue his dream of designing cars. In 1989, he began his design career at I.DE.A Institute where he completed numerous projects for the various Italian automobile brands. During his stay in Torino, he aslo made visits to Milan and discovered the world of furniture and a new passion for its design. Utilizing the methodologies of his Italian training, he founded his design consultancy in 1992 in his native city. With an engineering base coupled to a strong sensitivity to form, human factors and ecology, he has been able to transfer his passion for automobiles and furniture to a diverse range of clients. He has designed cars, trucks, buses, contract and residential furniture, bath wares, dishware, packaging, clocks and eco-friendly vehicles. Today he maintains his sutdio in Toronto but works in Italy, the USA and other European countries. In 2004, he gave a lecture at the Triennale titled 'The Design of the New North: Discovering Canada'. Recently, he has begun producing short films for his clients to promote their products online.
